The year certainly was 1969. The day could have been a Sunday and the time could have been 4:00pm. That was when a group of Old Girls of Wesley Girls' High School came together for the first time at Ernest Bruce Methodist Church Hall, Adabraka. Their gathering was in response to a radio announcement placed by Comfort Asiamah (1951 YG), inviting all past students of WGHS to a meeting. This marked the beginning of the WGHS Old Girls' Association as we know it today.
Auntie Esther, you are one of the visionary Old Girls who attended that maiden meeting alongside Lady Charlotte Quarshie-ldun, Mrs. Doris Annin, Mrs. Theresa Andoh, Mrs. Patience Acquah and others. Lady Charlotte Quarshie Idun was elected the first president and you took over when she passed on. For selflessly and skillfully running the affairs of the young Association for almost ten (10) years, the OGA on your 90th Birthday celebrates you for your excellent leadership. Your style, your poise and your passion for everything associated with Wey Gey Hey is still very evident and is highly appreciated.
On this occasion, the entire OGA (Ghana, Canada, UK & Ireland and USA — North America), wish you manifold blessings and good health.
We thank God that the torch that you and the founding members lit continues to shine brighter and brighter.
