Sad news has reached us of the demise of expatriate tutor Miss Marilyn Dimond in the UK. She taught Music, Religious Studies and was Housemistress of Wrigley House during her tenure at WGHS from the early 60s into the 70s.
She is credited for starting the School Choir.
May her soul rest in peace and rise to glory.
Miss Diamond 💎 was a Music gem who changed the face of SPEECH DAY with a School Choir. She was a joy to watch. Parents adored her.
I learnt a lot of folk songs just by listening to the Choir practices.
May her soul rest in perfect peace .🙏🏾
Condolences to her family.

May Miss Dimond rest in eternal peace.
She was already at WGHS when I entered Form 1 in September 1966.
I recall she taught Music; however, she did not handle Form 1s (Ones) 😁😁
Music in Form 1 consisted only of learning / practicing the hymns for Assembly and Chapel on the Sunday. We had Miss Susan Brown for that. She only stayed about 2 or 3 years.
Starting from Form 2 and beyond (for those of us who took O-level Music 😥 🫢 🙆🏾♀️ 🙆🏾♀️ 🤦🏾♀️) we had Miss Dimond (Daya) for Music lessons.
Although there was hymn practice, much of the time was spent on Music history, some theory, as well as learning English and American folk songs.
I really enjoyed Music class.
And who can forget watching Miss Dimond conduct the School Choir whenever they performed during Chapel Services? 😃 😃
Ah well, memories of a bygone era ...
